News from Mrs. Thode – January 2021
Happy New Year to you all! I am hoping that you all had a safe and happy Winter Break. I enjoyed time with my family and also relaxed a bit as well.
Hybrid Learning Model
Upon returning to school after the break, we will be in the Hybrid Learning Model. This means that students with last names beginning with the letters A-K will attend full days of school on Monday and Thursday and students with last names beginning with letters L-Z will attend full days of school on Tuesday and Friday. To even out the class sizes, we did make a few adjustments to some students’ attendance days. Thank you to those that agreed to change the days in which your child attends school. The Hybrid Model will be in effect from Monday, Jan. 4 through Friday, Jan. 15.
On Wednesdays, there is no school for students and no transportation provided by the district. Teachers will engage in professional learning communities, professional development, and planning time in the morning. In the afternoon, students may sign up for an hour of time to come and receive extra instruction from their teacher. This will be from 12:30-3:30. If you would like your child to receive this extra instruction, please call the office to set up a time. You must provide your own transportation to and from school for this time.
End of the Second Quarter and First Semester
The end of the first quarter is now Tuesday, Jan. 19. There will be no school on Wednesday, Jan. 20. This is a teacher workday. Teachers will complete report cards on this day. Report cards will then be sent home the following Thursday, Jan. 28th. If your child is a Virtual student, your report card will be mailed on that day.
January Assessments
Students will be participating in their end of quarter assessments and Winter FAST testing in the next few weeks. Quarterly assessments will be used to assess how well students have learned their grade level material and standards. FAST assessments are required from the state and assess students in the areas of reading and math.
Cold Weather
Please remember to send your child to school with appropriate cold weather gear- warm coat, hat, gloves/mittens. Students will go outside for recess if the feels-like temperature is about 15 degrees. If it is snowing or raining we will stay inside.
I wish you all a happy and healthy 2021. Thank you for sending your child with a mask each day to school.
Thank you!
